J.K. Champion, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a board certified surgeon and expert in videoscopic general and thoracic surgery. Dr. Champion's main interests are bariatric surgery (laparoscopic vertical banded gastroplasty, Lap-Band, or Roux-en-y gastric bypass) and gastric pacing for weight loss.
After receiving his medical degree from the University of Alabama, Dr. Champion completed his general surgery training at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham, Ala. He later finished thoracic surgery training at the University of West Virginia. Dr. Champion is a member of multiple professional affiliations and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he is also certified by the American Board of Surgery.
